Soul Survival Quotes Evolve

In, Soul Survival Quotes Evolve,” Growth comes when a heart wants more than just to exist.

I’m starting a series of quotes, I’ve named #SoulSurvival. These Soul Survival Quotes Evolve to soothe the soul. During the holidays I’ve been hit with the blues.  May of 2014, I lost my father to prostate cancer, then in 2015, a year later my husband, and eight other family members and friends throughout 2016 and 2017.

The holidays this year have been extremely tough in my heart. So as you all know my feelings and emotions spill here through my words. I reveal myself on paper and here on this site. And I’m hurting!

What is Soul?the principle of life, feeling, thought, and action in humans, regarded as a distinct entity separate from the body, and commonly held to be separable in existence from the body; the spiritual part of humans as distinct from the physical part.”

What is Survival – “the state or fact of continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances.”

Soul Survival Quotes Evolve

I find myself like this green sapling fighting to survive somedays; it’s hard to smile, especially today. But I see when I pour my soul on paper, I am like the “green sapling,” emerging from all the pain, struggles of yesterday. Breaking walls down, appearing fresh and rejuvenated.

Just as new foliage break through the cracks of concrete, we also should “Evolve Beyond Walls.”

What is Free Verse?

Free verse and writing.

As an author, I use free verse organically. Especially, with deliberate irregularities, with an impromptu inspiration. Also, enjoyment of nonmetered aspect. (Non-Structured form).

Poetry Defined: Free Verse

What free verse does for me, it allows a natural flow of verbally spoken words. Then,  with each graphics line, a visual effect is formed in the reader’s mind.

French symbolist poets literal translation of the free verse is vers libre, meaning “freedom from strictures” of highly rhythmic and rhymed prose.

” Ezra Pound  in “A Retrospect” (1918): “to compose in the sequence of the musical phrase, not in sequence of a metronome.”

Quote: Ice cream and Poetry

Quote of the day! Ice cream and poetry.

In this quote, I’m going to indulge in taste, sensation,  and inspiration.  Who doesn’t love a great ice cream cone or banana split? My favorite at Baskin Robins is the banana and peanut butter ice cream. For some reason, the combination of those two flavors just is euphoria for me.

Image of Quote of the Day: Ice Cream & Poetry

That first bite just does me in. My mouth and brain say more, more. Then, I look down at what’s left of my cone and its almost gone.

Poetry gives a reader the same sensation.  The first line is like the first bite of your favorite ice cream. And then, intrigue. You must have more and you continue to read until the end. Then the effect is the inspiration, the heart swells with the flow of emotion of the poetry. Do you agree? What’s your favorite ice cream? Let’s sweeten up this post with your flavors!

Quote of the day! Ice Cream and Poetry

“Good poetry is like going to an ice cream shop and ordering your favorite flavor of ice cream and enjoying it till the last bite. Then satisfaction!” – Linda J. Wolff

Hoping each one of you is having an awesome Monday! Wishing you a blessed and successful week too!

Micro-Poetry: New Dawn

In this micro-poetry piece, “New Dawn.”

Through this Micro-Poetry: New Dawn and the Depth of Words. I’m sharing emotions!

And here at Wolff Poetry, I share all my thoughts, good and not so good, all my emotions too, cause I know someone is searching for answers. And I want to help.

Image of Micro-Poetry New Dawn

So, today, I’m speaking regarding using words wisely when it comes to relationships of spouses, lovers, boyfriends or partners. And in, using words with caution and expression goes long ways to strengthening love.

When words become the fuel for silence, one knows they’ve gone too far with an open mouth. I said something foolish to my boyfriend of three years yesterday.

And, I didn’t take the time to comprehend the depth of the words I spilled from my loose lips. I hurt my boyfriend to the point of silencing him. Yes, of course, we are all capable of saying things without considering for a moment that your significant other could have had a bad day.

Yesterday, was that day for me. I get impatient sometimes. Let alone; I want my relationship to progress faster with him then what it does. But, not everyone moves at the same pace of life or love like I do.

I am the hare in the children’s story of The Hare and the Tortoise. Do you remember that book, or have you read it. My boyfriend is the tortoise. I push too hard for something, and he is a little more methodical about love. He has been teaching me patience.

Therefore, become the rebuttal of his emotions, and I deserved them. He spoke in a tone of how it hurt him. It cut right through to the walls of my heart. It stung.

But yet, I knew I had to do something to change how he felt. First, I knew I had to apologize for my words I had used.

Here, is what I said.

“I’ve been doing a lot of thinking! I have been wrong in the way I say things and handle things with you! All I want is for you to be happy in life always. I love you and every time I gaze at you as my boyfriend, I see you as my husband.

I know that is the furthest thought from your mind right now due to what’s going on in life. So no matter what issues you have whether it’s your job, losses, bedroom, or relationship. I will always be by your side.

If I had to do you and me over again. I would do it in a heartbeat. Why? The reason is, your my heartbeat, mind, body, and soul. You’re my everything!”

Indeed, he forgave me, and you know, we all love the making up part of a relationship, the tears, hugs, and intimacies.   There’s More Poetry in this Click!

So with this, I wrote this little micro-poetry with tenderness and reflection in mind, hope you enjoy it!

MicroPoetry: New Dawn

air.
Fluttering movement of a thousand beats.
A quiet new dawn and blue skies.
Changes felt in the breeze.
Reflection is floating leafs.
Moments is the solace of knowing.
And words linger with love.
Hopes rise with crawling yellow fingers.

Free Verse Poetry: The Keeper of Emotions

Free Verse Poetry, “The Keeper of Emotions.”

In this free verse poetry, “The Keeper of Emotions.” A woman is in turmoil of a relationship she has been in for quite some time. She realizes that she is being used by her lover, only to accelerate his ambitions. He has beguiled her by his charming nature and small gifts or tokens. And then, when she believes the relationship should move to the next level it takes a turn for the worse. Read the free verse poetry below, and feel the emotion and turmoil the young lady is feeling.

Here, I’m sharing a digital art piece with this free verse poetry in hopes of stirring an emotive in you!

Free Verse Poetry: The Keeper of Emotions

The absorbing one watches but never reveals
What she sees. By night she releases the emotive
That filters across pillow tops, through
Tears, on mounds of cheekbones.

She wakes alone and unlocks
Doorways of love dishes out portions
Softly, patiently offers admissions
For new emotions. What a responsibility.

She must be reserved. Not long ago,
In the moment of passion, she almost
gave away the whole soul. Request
incessantly fulfilled. Unreal,

Someone Appreciates her love. But now she must hold back.
Her heart is swelling, deflating, as if
She was a big red balloon.
She tucks away into the night, fits

Into the darkness, allowing tears to fall like a star.
She targets the metallic sound in the bottom
Of a deep handbag, inserts it into an opening
for freedom. No one notices. Flustered,

She drives and drives, expels more tears. So much hurt,
yet the delicate soul.
When she leaves, later, again,
She will not return, not ever, or ever again.

Free Verse Poetry

[Poets.org ] What is a Free Verse Poetryfree verse: A poetry of organic rhythms, of deliberate irregularity, improvisatory delight. Free verse is a form of nonmetrical writing that takes pleasure in a various and emergent verbal music. “As regarding rhythm,” Ezra Pound writes in “A Retrospect” (1918): “to compose in the sequence of the musical phrase, not in sequence of a metronome.” Free verse is often inspired by the cadence—the natural rhythm, the inner tune—of spoken language. It possesses visual form and uses the graphic line to differentiate itself from prose.

The term free verse is a literal translation of vers libre, which was employed by French symbolist poets seeking freedom from the strictures of the alexandrine. It has antecedents in medieval alliterative verse, in highly rhythmic and rhymed prose, in Milton’s liberated blank-verse lines and verse paragraphs.

Long-Term Relationship Between Moon & Stars Described Through Poetry

Hello, My Poetry Fans! I hope this day finds you all of having a blessed day!

I want to share a poem that I wrote titled “The Long-Term Relationship Between Moon & Star.”

Image of The Long-Term Relationship Between the Moon and Stars Poetry
Image of The Long-Term Relationship Between the Moon and Stars Described Through Poetry

Granted, we know there isn’t such a thing as a long-term physical relationship between the moon and the stars. But, if for a moment, in a romantic sense in the genre of poetry. The terms “long-term relationship” can be used to provoke a fantasy fairy tale.

Take, for instance, this photograph. It’s just a photograph right! For me, it’s more, look at the expression on the moon figurine. Do you see the smile?  How the cheeks have risen, only this can happen when a smile is produced.

Notice the little star dangling, just like real stars do. Bright and glimmering in a dark sky. Hanging from an invisible piece of twine. Indeed, it does look like a long-term relationship. Forever, embedded in the depth of darkness. Yet, the moon needs the stars. They seem to offer a bright glow together. A glow the lights up a galaxy. Too me, this is a fairy tale.

Furthermore, it looks as if the moon is completely relaxed and happy!

Word Origin and History for fairy tale n.

“oral narrative centered on magical tests, quests, and transformations,” 1749, translating French Conte de feés of Madame d’Aulnois (1698, translated into English 1699). As an adjective (also fairytale), attested by 1963.

A Free Verse Poetry Piece; The Long-Term Relationship Between Moon & Star

Moon and “Star” have had a long-term relationship…in the world

of a fantasy realm.

One night, I saw it for myself.

I was standing, washing the left-over dishes from dinner.

Looking through the kitchen window.

The night held pitch black. Yet, profoundly lit with brightness.

And there it was, moon smiling.

He had the biggest smile.

I followed his gaze; such glitter shone from small beady eyes.

He was staring at Star. I could see why he was so enamored by her.

She was so delicate and tiny. The way she smiled back at him.

One couldn’t help but notice the love they shared.

Her love beamed, beautiful light bounced through the darkness.

As a final point; I’m a romantic! The thought of a long-term relationship is like a fairy tale. I’ve known people who have been in love for over 50 years. Even more, think about what it takes to stay in love. It has to be magical. Indeed, one would have to presume that the communication between these two people is one of compassion and understanding.

That is to say; they probably had their fair share of disagreements, but they must have been able to resolve their issues quietly and respectably.

I’m hoping you enjoyed this article and poem “The Long-Term Relationship Between Moon & Star.”

But, I was short of funds to purchase this domain and all the apps and software one needs to implement a growing website. When I started writing at my emerging poetry site “Urban Poetry,” I didn’t think it would grow so fast, and now I have no choice but to move it to a Self-Host through Bluehost and use WordPress.org.

Of course, Urban Poetry’s popularity is not because of numerous awards or because it is featured in professional literary journals. Since, January 3, 2017, and 10,000 viewers a month it has made a positive impact on many people’s lives.

About Linda J. Wolff (That’s Me)

Image of Linda J. Wolff, founder of Wolff PoetryI am the poet, and storyteller, and the mind behind Wolff Poetry and Urban Poetry.

I’m really just a simple gal who love to inspire others.

Before writing and blogging for Urban Poetry, and now Wolff Poetry, I was an accountant for 13 years for an asphalt paving contractor. One of the turning points of my life was when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. And passed away, these were trying times.

As a single mom of three girls, two grown, and one still at home. I needed a change in life, I wrote down the emotions bottled inside so I could be a great mother to my 9-year-old daughter. She needed me now more than ever.

I found writing and blogging to be a great medium for releasing stress. So. I started blogging my passion for learning and sharing knowledge of how to write and create traffic from using SEO (search engine optimization).

That’s how Urban Poetry which is transgressing to Wolff Poetry was born.

When I am not writing on my computer, I love hiking & adventure. I love art, digital, doodles, watercolor with my daughter.

So far, I have hiked all over the peaks in Idaho. And, I am looking forward to a hike this coming next month. So there ya have it.

That’s it for now! See you on the next piece of poetry or article to enlighten your heart or open insight to a new learning!
