Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words

In, “Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words,” I know the consequences or the vulnerability of words if spoken in the appropriate or inappropriate fashion.

There is always an impression left behind. Good or bad. What I’m trying to say here in this “Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words” is; if we use our words in a simple, straightforward and respectful way we can be appreciated for whom we truly are. At times it can be trying when others use words to inflict hurt, but, we should reason with this, could this person be hurting and acting out in anger. Don’t take it personally. It doesn’t have anything to do with you. Hug them, or offer a listening compassionate ear.

Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words

Today is a watercolor painting.
Mind sprinkled with
steaming evaporating coffee,
milky–way vanilla flavored creamer.

Tongue soothing
down the throat
into MY tummy.

This is Friday cracking a new dawn,
restful dreamy promises inspired
from the night before. Somewhere,

a canvas without words
begs for a songbird song.

Poetry Silence Over Glittered Rooftops Image

Poetry Silence Over Glittered Rooftops

In, “Poetry Silence Over Glittered Rooftops,” I write about the morning staring through the window, observing what wasn’t happening and what was.

In, “Poetry Silence Over Glittered Rooftops,” it was like a still picture, but everything was moving. Like moving at a snail’s pace. But I had to slow my heartbeat, sip my coffee slowly and just watch. Everything was glittered and white, then the sun warms rooftops, little by little roofs change color. Brightness screams across the apartment complex, I’m amazed at the beauty. Entranced by steam rising into the atmosphere. Up. Then gone.

Poetry Silence Over Glittered Rooftops

Across the frozen rooftops,
shadows bend like fingers.
Stretching long and thin.
Scratching black lines across
glittering white.
I see him: billows of
clouds coming from
an open mouth,
legs are moving in a lyric beat.
The park stands quietly;
the trees bow to
blue in a windless morning,
a black crow swoops
at garbage of yesterday, and the
silent frost has hidden
all the footprints of children.

Free Verse Poem Nudging Cold

In this, “Free Verse Poem Nudging Cold, golden fingers caress earth’s crust and hearts.

This morning was exhilarating, and I was inspired to write this little “Free Verse Poem Nudging Cold.” With my pink and cream colored cap, I embrace the cold with open arms. There’s something to be said about being dressed for the cold of winter. Piping hot coffee in hand and walking outside and crisp cold air that freezes inside the breath. I can feel it trying to creep inside my layers of clothing. My body fights back. Then the sun rises and nudges the cold again as it moves across my face and body. Euphoria!

Nudging at the cold.

Move on.

Digital Art Wind Song

Expression of Nature in Digital Art Wind Song

In this, Digital Art Wind Song, I express my appreciation of the colorful changes from summer to fall, the vivid array of earthy tones, the way the air smells seeping through my window screen. The song of pitter, patter on the railing of my balcony, and how the wind sings lyrics of nature. What about you?

Digital Art Wing Song

It wasn’t so much
the wind blowing
that grasped my attention.

Wasn’t the branches suppose
to drop their leaves
because I never saw anything

so colorful
than maple on
black pavement.

It wasn’t that
the rain stopped me.

In Washington,
that’s inevitable
as a crocus
forcing snow to split.

Or ice that freezes hell—

It wasn’t that I was afraid
to breathe.

I could’ve held an umbrella—
But not me.

Someone like me who appreciates
the color
of the seasons.

It was that somewhere
I heard the wind song

Branches bending
like violin strings.
Branches transmitting
song effectively

Radiating music
into the surrounding air
and my ears.

It was wind song.
Breathy and exhilarating.

Free Verse Ode to Birth or Rosebuds

Free Verse Ode to Birth or Rosebuds; I die to breathe life and strength into bones and roses.

In, “Free Verse Ode to Birth or Rosebuds,” I recalled the birth of my youngest daughter in 1983, a beautiful, blessed event in my life, only to die an hour later going through a tubal ligation. I lost consciousness due to complications of anaphylactic shock due to an allergic reaction to a drug used for numbing specific body areas for surgery. But due to such quick responses of doctors and nurses, my life was saved. It was then that one’s life could end in fractions of a second.

And, each time I have doubting thoughts, I remind myself of that beautifully blessed day!

Free Verse Ode to Birth, or Rosebuds

Sometimes I need to reach—deep like taproots
Burrowing through the darkness of hardpan dirt—

I would want to establish strength; root-like,
anchored in the hopes of solidity.

Forsake the contamination of instability.
Prove I’m the poet of each line of prose.

Who needs the weakness of low self-esteem
when your fingers can grip the heart

and rise with color-drenched petals
that glows under the sun as soon as you pry your finger from it

And, still, it’s not until I reach the firmament,
hear the screech of the eagle: How to explain

to the heart that strength is within
What do you know of hope?

How to know that strength and hope collided
Not until then, that I remember the day

I gave birth to you and died
only to breathe again, at your cry.

They said; I shouldn’t of come back from the dead.
But I fought to live.

This love this strength, this rose that never dies.
I remember how blood looks on a

newborn baby and a rosebud, as I allow myself to see.

Image of Free Verse Lady of the Woods

Free Verse Lady of the Woods

Free Verse Lady of the Woods, is a free verse poem that speaks the mystery of sounds in the night, a lone woman out jogging with her dog.

In, Free Verse Lady of the Woods I’m hoping to entertain this eeriness. Country life seems serene, simple. But is it. It still holds challenges of criminal minds. Choices of life can change the whole outlook of events.

Have you ever walked in the wilderness and heard the trees cry? I have. It sounds like the voice of a person crying or screaming. The wind blows just right bending young green trees. The trees brush against one another creating this eerie sound.

Free Verse Lady of the Woods

Eerie is the cry.
In the darkness of night, just before daybreak.

A lady loves to jog, footprints on the pavement
and a dog named Ralph.
Cold air and breath.
Inhale. Exhale.
Fog of mouth.

Headlights in the distance
A drunk hell bent on getting home.
Blunt force. Dead upon impact.

Coldness meets warmth.
Red bleeds into cracks.
Tucked between boulders. She rots over time.

Search. Search. Search.

When the wind blows at 4 am.
One can hear a woman’s cry and a dog’s howl.
