Free Verse Poem Be Here Now Image

Free Verse Poem Be Here Now

In, “Free Verse Poem Be Here Now,” it’s human nature, to want to control ourselves out of fear, doubting thoughts, our insecurities.

In this, “Free Verse Poem Be Here Now,” and the digital art piece illustrates and asks for your presence, to be accountable. If one took time and broke it down into milliseconds, would it seem that our past, present, and future collide simultaneously? The mind plays tricks; we ponder over emotions, things, or people we have no control over. It’s a vain attack on our humanity. If we just stood in the here and the now, opened our eyes, breathe slow breaths and only absorb everything for what it is. It’s magic.

Free Verse Poem Be Here Now

Magic— is in the foothills
of our minds.
Our choices,
of our philosophy
in our past, present, future.
Magic ignites— when we focus on
the here and now.

free verse poem oreo's and thoughts image

Free Verse Poem Oreo’s and Thoughts

In, “Free Verse Poem Oreo’s and Thoughts,” I find myself restless. With thoughts buzzing like honey bees. Here and there finding a flower or a solution to calm thoughts in the dark of the night.

In, “Free Verse Poem Oreo’s and Thoughts,” I find something to appease the restlessness. As a single mom, so much crosses my mind, especially when the night falls and I am finally alone in mine room. My mind races with solutions, the what if’s or the could be’s. I contemplate getting up and grabbing something to calm me. To relax the anxious thoughts searching for resolutions.

Free Verse Poem Oreo’s and Thoughts

It is raining tonight, and I know
my thoughts are swirling as if a tornado.
Night sounds of crushing tires, horns and the
mulled voices of strangers on my cracked window.

Again I am the restless child wandering
through an entanglement, tossed web, of sheets and comforter.

Usually, I would hate it, consider
spending a sleepless night driving
to Walgreens for a sleep-aid or more

those awful to awesome Oreo flavors
that melt a mind into mush by morning
I’m trying to stay clear off of.

But tonight I have too much on my mind,
and Oreo’s and the pandemonium filtering through my window
fade out the crowding clamoring thoughts.

Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words image

Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words

In, “Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words,” I know the consequences or the vulnerability of words if spoken in the appropriate or inappropriate fashion.

There is always an impression left behind. Good or bad. What I’m trying to say here in this “Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words” is; if we use our words in a simple, straightforward and respectful way we can be appreciated for whom we truly are. At times it can be trying when others use words to inflict hurt, but, we should reason with this, could this person be hurting and acting out in anger. Don’t take it personally. It doesn’t have anything to do with you. Hug them, or offer a listening compassionate ear.

Free Verse Poem Songbirds and Words

Today is a watercolor painting.
Mind sprinkled with
steaming evaporating coffee,
milky–way vanilla flavored creamer.

Tongue soothing
down the throat
into MY tummy.

This is Friday cracking a new dawn,
restful dreamy promises inspired
from the night before. Somewhere,

a canvas without words
begs for a songbird song.

Free Verse Poem Strength in Numbers

Free Verse Poem Silent Death & Strength

In, “Free Verse Poem Silent Death & Strength,” I find myself at the crossroads of life, of love.

In, Free Verse Poem Silent Death & Strength, here I know of the heartaches of building relationships only to see them crumble. I see what is and what isn’t. I experience only in hopes of something lasting forever or not at all. But, one thing I have found is I must surround myself with those who allow me to find myself for all that I am. In this poem, I am giving an example of expressing my thoughts to a special someone whom I would like it to be a “forever”, but, I am not certain he sees it in the same light as I do.

Free Verse Poem Silent Death & Strength

I could call you.
But I chose to let you marinate in
our exchange of words.

This rain, this morning I feel
drowning in pain fed to a drain.
Our silence.

The cadaver smell from bones of us
again I forage

you know, I’m not always crazy
but sometimes

the casualty in us is surrealistic
it’s there, or it’s not.
still, the rotting, the sting of the knife in my heart

Still waiting for pools of red to bleed out.
you have these ways of killing me softly
and don’t know it.

Free Verse Poem Wild Imagination Image

Free Verse Poem Wild Imagination

In, “Free Verse Poem Wild Imagination,” guarded walls restrain life and flowers.

“Free Verse Poem Wild Imagination’ offers enlightenment and hope. I’ve heard the phrase “She’s got the wildest imagination.” I do. But, sometimes I get in the way of myself. Do you ever have days like that? I don’t feel right, then I start feeling down, and allow all these negative thoughts to drown the positive flow within. So, I’ve learned to find something unique at the start of each morning. It might be a word or a thing. If I fill my mind with seeds of greatness, the wildest of ideas will flow.

Even the wildest— of ideas

can come to mind.

If we only learn to imagine.

There are parts of you

that cling to the negativity.

Ask them why they’d want to stay.

Fight inside the bones.

Fight inside the soul.

Find the wild that flies with wings.

Free Verse Poem Adventure

In this, “Free Verse Poem Adventure,” there’s more beyond the sadness, beyond the heartache.

I find more to allow the tears to flush the pain, to allow time to heal and to let go of what I cannot hold on to or control what is not mine to control. I find beauty in this “Free Verse Poem Adventure,” to seek the simplicity of life because there’s more than just looking through a closed window.

If you could open

Out of every broken piece,

Free Verse Poem Ink Spilled image

Free Verse Poem Ink Spilled

In this, “Free Verse Poem Ink Spilled,” if the cold winds carry you to another place, you must go.

I find more in “Free Verse Poem Ink Spilled.” Through the sliding glass door: a winter freeze bites in the core of one’s soul; leaving questions of the heart. Heavy whiteness douses the grass and sidewalks forcing eyes to forget what they’ve seen before. Pinprickles of light stream through the night, the remains of today. Beneath the layers of white, a poet writes in echoing sound of silence and snowflakes.

Free Verse Poem Ink Spilled image

Free Verse Poem Ink Spilled

if the words
from poets
know when
it is time
to spill ink
to a wanton canvas
&
create a new poem
then so does that
beautiful wild soul
beating within you
never stay too long
where it is too
cold to linger.

Free Verse Poem Reveal

In, “Free Verse Poem Reveal,” to take every heartache and reveal answers take guts. Takes strength.

I was born in the city⁄ that breathes heat. Surely poetry is excreted through pores and is my birthright, too, the way Nevada never fails in every poem to makes us appreciate the coolness of the shade, even transformed. In this, “Free Verse Poem Reveal,” the morning arrives like a heated blanket and the night arrives like a cooling rain, the sky prays blue mercy. Here’s to wishing you all a wonderous and revealing 2018.

Free Verse Poem Butterfly Set Free

“Free Verse Poem Butterfly Set Free,” I wrote for the fall, the broken. I wrote for myself as a healing reminder.

We’re as fragile as a butterfly, but within us, we have a purpose, we have strength. If we reach deep, we can find a butterfly set free. In this, “Free Verse Poem Butterfly Set Free” I have written of me, with broken wings I found myself through writing, found my strengths through words. Found also, that it touches other fighting souls who needed inspiration and healing.

image of free verse poem butterfly set free

Free Verse Poem Butterfly Set Free

Broken butterfly wings.
I was an exposed thing.
I had words. I had words that I couldn’t write.

Life would bring me down.
I struggled to set myself free.

Ohh, so down all the words drowned.
I had words. I had words.
But I could not speak.
It held me down.

I struggled to fly to the blue sky.

Ohh. But there are so many words to write.
That we are running scared
We hold on to life, so tight
We can not refuse
It deprives our life.

Ohh. It deprives our life.

Yes, there are words inside.
I want to live. I want to live. Noo.
I don’t care if I write correctly.

I found myself in words I spill through ink.
I write for love. I write for me.

I write it out like a butterfly set free.

No, I don’t care if my words aren’t written perfectly.
I found myself in words I spill through ink.
Now I fly when I touch another soul.

I have my words; I have my words,
watch them spread hope.

Life struggles it could bring me down.
But I flew high into the sky

Like a butterfly set free.

Free Verse Poem Take a Flower in Your Hand

“Free Verse Poem Take a Flower in Your Hand,” courage comes in being strong when everything else falls.

In, “Free Verse Poem Take a Flower in Your Hand,” we find the holidays and everyday life can bring challenges and struggles that can tear at the very core of one’s spirit. I have been in this place too. But the support of wonderful friends and family, and searching deep, deep within myself and grasping for hope changes my whole perspective.

Yesterday, I wrote about being blue through the holidays. It was my boyfriend who noticed my silence and reached out extending a flower of hope and tenderness. And his sweet smile along with a hug. It made my day! Do you sometimes get in that place?

image of take a flower in your hand

Free Verse Poem Take a Flower in Your Hand

Oh so, your tears they show.
I know you have never felt so much pain.
But smile darling, be strong,

Hang on, hang on to the colors of life.
They’re there.

Take a flower in your small hand,
inhale the fragrance, let it linger on.

Let the rain fall; it will be Ok
What may seem so big, is yet so small.

Look long, see the beauty in the pain
Look long; colors are in the rain.

Just take the flowers you hold
Hang on, hang on to the magic of hope and life
and paint the sky with your smile.
