In, “Free Verse Poem Slumberland,” dogs have a way of changing the melancholy of a Saturday morning.
A long week hangs on the thread of the mind. Muscles scream for the embodiment of heaviness in warmth. Slumberland holds a captive dream and visions are racing in a subscience state of idleness. We are here in this sleepful Saturday. Staling time. In, “Free Verse Poem Slumberland,” I try to hold on to my Saturday morning before it slips away into the afternoon and evening.
Free Verse Poem Slumberland
In this morning, the mother sits upright in cotton and steaming air evaporate.
Drowsiness is a heavy blanket.
The morning has time to linger and isn’t worthy of expectations.
Animations of exuberance bounds into polyester puffiness.
And then my dog spits a fuzzy circular object,
it is because his ball is need of being thrown.
I tease him to the affection of
but he isn’t into serene scenery enough to slow his mind.
How can you wake on a Saturday that has time for what should be?
Dreams are still the longing.
