Poetry Defined – Acrostic Poem

In this, Poetry Defined Acrostic Poem? I will define its purpose and structure.

As an author, I am intrigued and challenged by the acrostic poem. A form of poetry which uses names or words through the first letter of each line. The inspiration behind that of an acrostic is to expose while striving to conceal within the poem. In some cases, the acrostic form has been used at the end or in the middle of the verse. Hope you enjoy our Poetry Defined Acrostic Poem example below.

In the poetry defined acrostic poem below I address the torments of a child having a nightmare. Thus, the word “hear” is the describing word.

How the Restless-child screams
Every dark like shadow crawls;
And the hapless mother awakens
Racing fragments of the minds wall.

What is Free Verse?

Free verse and writing.

As an author, I use free verse organically. Especially, with deliberate irregularities, with an impromptu inspiration. Also, enjoyment of nonmetered aspect. (Non-Structured form).

Poetry Defined: Free Verse

What free verse does for me, it allows a natural flow of verbally spoken words. Then,  with each graphics line, a visual effect is formed in the reader’s mind.

French symbolist poets literal translation of the free verse is vers libre, meaning “freedom from strictures” of highly rhythmic and rhymed prose.

” Ezra Pound  in “A Retrospect” (1918): “to compose in the sequence of the musical phrase, not in sequence of a metronome.”
