You might enjoy, Free Verse Birthplace, a colorful description of Washington State, and how the people, concrete sidewalks collide with nature.
In this “Free Verse Birthplace,” I have lived in the state of Washington for over twenty years, and after all this time I am astounded at the changes of the seasons. The brilliant colors of fall. Mix this with the people that dwell within the concrete sidewalks and skyscrapers. It brings such a unique blend to the eyes and senses. Add a chill in the air, and sounds of a city buzzing.
Free Verse Birthplace
The place of high mountaintops under gray and blue sky
Where a city hums in the sleepless heritage of skyscrapers and pavement
her concrete streets smirks at the touch of delicate snowflakes
I am the grass and leafs
colorful like the mountains of Snoqualmie Ridge
The spectacle of her frolicking changes
Who sings of brilliant camouflage under the sun when the morning rises
Surrender to the land of beauty
Father would always fly over the steep ridges
encircling the snaking rivers of the wilderness
From whose arms embrace the tamarack of yellow
among the green pine.
Of the rugged terrain whose topped out heads shielded the creatures
and boxed houses from where he watches his neighbors
Of his fertile lawn of native skin
on whose head the lady next door awaits and watches rose hips turn brown
Of walking strangers that tread under her bright morning
The barking dogs that howl at the siren of the night
When all faces upon pillows are dreaming
and the homeless man scraping for scraps in cylinder garbage cans
howls for the wanderer intimidated of the night
The land of plenty food of Washington
Have they gone lost?
Leaving the children of the earth for the hideous wolves
Rise from your hapless trance
For my place screams for hope
a true successor of light and love
and kindred souls and freedom
